U.S. CPTED Association Publishes National CPTED Guidelines
The U.S. CPTED Association has officially published its CPTED Guidelines, marking an important milestone in advancing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design across the United States.
These new Guidelines provide a unified, national framework for applying CPTED principles in the planning, design, and long-term management of the built environment. Developed as an advisory resource, the CPTED Guidelines translate the core CPTED principles into practical, real-world strategies that can be applied across a wide range of settings, including neighborhoods, schools, commercial areas, parks, and public spaces.
The publication of the CPTED Guidelines also represents a foundational step toward the future development of formal U.S. CPTED Design Standards through a consensus-based process.

We encourage practitioners, planners, designers, public agencies, and community leaders to review the Guidelines and begin incorporating them into projects, policies, and programs nationwide.
