Florida enacted HB837 last week, which will have far reaching impacts on the tort system in Florida. Within that bill is language that gives multifamily owners tools to address negligent security claims and criminal activity that have become commonplace. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is listed as part of HB837. There is a strong chance that many other States will be adopting similar legislation.
